When Samsung revealed the original Galaxy
Note last year, consumers were undecided as to whether or not it was a
viable option for the everyday smartphone owner. And, while that
question may still not be answered, we’ve witnessed the device’s success first-hand. Regardless, Samsung introduced its successor last month in Berlin at IFA 2012,
and the device packs quite the punch. With a 5.5-inch display, Android
4.1 Jelly Bean and a quad-core processor, the Galaxy Note II is destined
to be a powerhouse.
At a company briefing today in Korea, J.K.
Shin, head of the manufacturer’s mobile division, speculated that the
Note II would sell three times faster than the original, considering the
numerous additional carriers that will be offering the device this time
around. In terms of raw numbers, Samsung’s new flagship is slated to go
on sale in 128 markets, and be available on 260 different network
operators. The original Galaxy Note was only available on AT&T in
the US, with an extremely brief stint of availability on T-Mobile. The Galaxy Note II is set to arrive later this year on at least five major US carriers, including AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile, Sprint an US Cellular.
