Apple iPad Mini: Pros and Cons

After all the rumors and speculations finally the smaller version of iPad is here. The new iPad Mini is smaller than the regular iPad and slightly larger than the normal 7 inch tablet available in the market right now. Apple has dominated the tablet market with its 9.7 inch iPad and now it has entered the small screen tablet market segment where low cost Android tablets are flooded. Here we have came up with the good and bad in the Apple iPad Mini.

Pros:

Lightweight

The new Apple iPad Mini is awesomely sleek and has a thickness of just 7.2 mm which means it is as slim as a pencil. It is not only sleek but also extremely lightweight at around 308 grams you can carry it in your bag or purse anywhere you go. The thickness and lightweight makes it easy to hold and use with one hand.

It comes with 7.9 inch screen size where 0.9 inch is more than the usual 7 inch tablet which are now in the market. The screen offers more viewing space roughly 35 percent more than regular 7 inch tablets.

Design and Camera

Apple device are always beautiful and the iPad Mini is another example of beauty. The tablet comes with smooth curved edges as you can find it in the newly launched iPhone 5. The iPad Mini is available in two color variants; White and Black.

One thing can be stated without doubt, that the overall camera quality of the Mini is way better than iPad 2. The camera is by far one of the best features of this tiny little device. The gadget comes with a 5 mega pixel rear iSight camera and a 1.2 mega pixel front facing camera or FaceTime HD camera which again is an improvement over the iPad 2 VGA camera. The FaceTime camera can records HD videos at 720 pixels. The camera also comes with the feature of video stabilization.

Connectivity

The iPad Mini comes with advanced Wi-Fi dual band connectivity. The downloading speeds on the device can reach up to 150 Mbps which would make any user happy. On the connectivity front the tablet also supports LTE. Along with this the gadget is also compatible with wireless networks such as HSPA, HSPA + and DC-HSDPA.

Cons:

No Retina Display

The new iPad Mini comes with a 7.9 inch display which makes it a part of the small tablet category. The tablet comes with LED backlight technology which is similar to that used in the iPad 2. The Mini tablet comes with a resolution of 1024 X 768 pixels which is the same as that of the iPad 2.  With the pixel count of 1024 X 768, the screen comes with 163 pixels per inch (ppi). The sad news is that unlike the new iPad 3 the Mini does not come with Retina Display.

Older Processor

Apple products are known for their fast performance especially the iPads. The newest member in the Apple tablet family disappoints a bit with its processor. The gadget is powered by an older A5 chip which was seen in the iPad 2 while Apple has already the A6 chip it makes a bit disappoint that it could me faster than now.
